NO. 4 CIGAR OF THE YEAR 2021 – PLASENCIA COSECHA 149
The Plasencia Cosecha 149 is the successor to the Plasencia Cosecha 146 cigar, with each being made in honor of specific tobacco harvests in the family’s long history of farming. As cosecha translates to mean harvest, the cigar is crafted exclusively from leaves of the Plasencias’ 149th harvest, which took place in 2014. These seven-year aged tobaccos are primarily Criollo (with some Corojo that is proprietary to the Plasencia family), being sourced from their Honduran farms of Olancho, Jamastran, and Talanga. This proves to be a balanced concoction, seeming to hit every square inch of the palate on each puff. There is a good amount of body, though flavor takes the lead, showing notes of cedar, medium-roast coffee, and gingerbread cookies.
